  5. Welcome to CE Toolbox v1.6.1
  6.  
  7. CE Toolbox is used with many programs from CE Software.  It provides easier access to these programs by adding their names to the Apple menu.  Also, the user-configured hot keys provided with these programs utilize information provided by CE Toolbox to access and open the correct windows on your screen.

  9. •••IMPORTANT NOTE•••   CE Toolbox is now accessed directly from the Apple menu (NOT from the Control Panel as is explained in your manual).

  11. Installation-
  12. If you are a new user, the installation instructions in your manual are correct.  Otherwise you may install CE Toolbox v1.6.1 by dragging it into your System folder and restarting your Macintosh.  If you are running System 7.0, CE Toolbox should be placed in the “Extensions” folder inside the System folder.

  14. After CE Toolbox is installed, the Apple menu will be modified to include menu items for some CE Software programs installed on your computer.

  16. CE Toolbox can be opened by pulling down the Apple menu and selecting “CEToolbox.”
  17.  
  18. Menu Configuration-
  19. This area controls how CE Toolbox organizes the Apple menu.  As you click different buttons, the example menu will change to show the result of your choice.

  21. •  If you click “Hidden,” the items that CE Toolbox places in the Apple menu will be removed from the Apple menu, including the item that opens this dialog box.

  23. When you click “OK” with “Hidden” selected, a dialog box will appear asking if you wish to save a copy of the Configure CE Toolbox application.  Click “Yes” and a second dialog box will appear allowing you to select a location for the application.  You will need to use this application the next time you wish to see and alter the CE Toolbox dialog box.  Select a location for the file and click “Save.”

  25. •  If you click “Grouped,” the items that CE Toolbox places in the Apple menu will be grouped above your desk accessories.

  27. •  If you click “Sorted with DAs,” the Apple menu will list your DAs and the CE Toolbox items alphabetically.

  29. •  If you click “Separated,” a “Tools” item will appear in the Apple menu.  Clicking “Tools” will display a submenu of the CE Toolbox items.

  31. Pop-up Configuration-
  32. If you check one or more of these boxes, the CE Toolbox menu will pop up on the screen anytime you hold down the checked key(s) and click the mouse button.

  34. Misc-
  35. If “Show Startup Icon” is checked, the CE Toolbox icon will appear on screen during startup while the CE Toolbox INIT loads.

  37. •  If “Do Not Save Finder Windows” is checked, changes made to any Finder windows (moving or resizing) will not be saved to disk when a “Restart” or “Shut Down” command in one of the menus provided by the application is used.  (Two CE Software products, DiskTop and Tiles, provide menu items for “Shutdown” and “Restart.”)  If you wish the changes to be saved and the Finder windows to appear as you left them (before you restarted or shut the computer down), uncheck this box.

  39. •  The “Do Not Change Default Folder When Launching” check box is provided primarily as a programmer’s utility that affects whether or not the ‘SF Get File’ is modified when a document or application is launched.  If this box is checked, CE Toolbox will remember the last folder/disk you opened and return to it the next time you use the “Open” command.  If it is unchecked, “Open” will bring up the standard Select File to Open  dialog box displaying the folder/disk from which the current document or application was opened or launched.

  41. •  The “Disable Hot Keys” box can be checked to turn off your hot keys for all programs that use CE Toolbox, except QuicKeys and QuicKeys 2.  (Other programs that use CE Toolbox to operate their hot keys are DiskTop™, Alarming Events™, In/Out™, QuickMail™ and Tiles™.  Checking this box will disable their hot keys.)

  43. •  Clicking the “Configure International Launching” button will display this dialog box.  If you have software on your machine from other countries, it probably uses non-English words for “Open,” “Quit,” “Shut Down” and “Restart” (and for the name of the File menu).  This dialog box is used to add text for different languages for these commands.  This text tells CE Toolbox what to look for when it tries to locate the File menu and these commands.  Type the words as needed and click “OK.”

  45. After changing the options in the CE Toolbox dialog box, click “OK.”  The changes will be saved and the dialog box will close.  Clicking “Cancel” will void any changes made and close the dialog box.

  48. Note to SmartAlarms Users:

  50. CEToolbox 1.6 and EARLIER ARE compatible with SmartAlarms v3.0 through v3.0.4.
  51. CEToolbox 1.6 and EARLIER are NOT compatible with SmartAlarms v3.0.6.
  52. CEToolbox 1.6.1 and later contain code which specifically patches around patches made by SmartAlarms v3.0.6.  We cannot guarantee that this will be compatible with future versions of SmartAlarms.
